Any questions about how well Swan would be received by the software development community were answered quickly at the May 2008 JavaOne conference in San Francisco. Over 300 developers swarmed the ObjectWave booth and gave their approvals to the pioneering AJAX-based Rich Internet Applications capabilities software development platform -- Swan™. The success of the demo proved once again why ObjectWave continues to be the leader of emerging technologies and provider of developer framework and toolsets for enterprise level object-oriented systems. Swan combines an AJAX framework and best practices in software development with easy-to-use development tools to accelerate web application development and enforce consistency. Developers were pleasantly shocked to hear that Swan solves many of the problems they face when they create AJAX-based web interfaces: too many open libraries, large amounts of JavaScript code required to be written and supported, browser dependence, long development cycles, excessive overhead costs, and a lack of standards for transferring data between the server and browser. Swan provides a framework where client-server code is integrated more naturally, allowing all application behavior to be defined on the server side, thus removing the problems associated with complex client-side libraries such as JavaScript, DOM, AJAX. Developers learned they can use wizards to speed up development without having to learn complex JavaScript or other custom tag libraries. Amazingly they can start coding AJAX-based pages immediately using HTML only. Moreover, they can quickly create the server side controller for their web page and push changes to the browser from the server side components. Developers spend less time waiting for data to be transmitted, and they consume less bandwidth for the entire task. Applications are more responsive, and desktop-like features help to improve the user experience. More time is spent on core competencies and less on AJAX plumbing. |
